Support Grand Canyon North Rim Community: Dragon Bravo Fire
Donation protected
On July 13, 2025, the devastating Dragon Bravo Fire swept through the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, destroying the historic Grand Canyon Lodge and several nearby facilities. This tragic loss goes beyond buildings—it directly impacts the lives and livelihoods of the people who call the North Rim home.
With the North Rim now closed for the remainder of the 2025 season, many park employees, seasonal workers, and local guides have lost not only their income but also personal belongings they had on-site. These are the people who pour their heart into welcoming visitors, leading adventures, maintaining trails, and preserving the beauty of this iconic place.
We’re raising funds through GoFundMe to help support those most affected—providing emergency financial assistance for displaced workers, helping replace lost essentials, and giving the Grand Canyon community the means to rebuild and recover.
In times of loss, symbols matter. And few are more fitting for the North Rim than Brighty of the Grand Canyon.
Brighty’s legacy isn’t just about a beloved burro—it’s about grit, loyalty, and perseverance through the toughest terrain. He’s a reminder of what it means to press on when the path ahead looks uncertain.
As the Dragon Bravo Fire tears through our beloved North Rim—taking with it the historic Grand Canyon Lodge and forcing closure for the remainder of the 2025 season—many in our canyon family are left without jobs, income, and in some cases, even personal belongings. Guides, employees, and local workers who have faithfully served visitors year after year are now facing real hardship.
But like Brighty, we don’t give up.
He becomes our rallying symbol now—a call to stand strong, to carry one another, and to help rebuild what’s been lost. This GoFundMe effort is one way we come together as a community, supporting those most affected by this tragedy.
Let’s honor the spirit of Brighty—not just with memory, but with movement. Not just with admiration, but with action.
If you’ve ever experienced the magic of the North Rim or been blessed by the hospitality of its people, now is the time to give back.
Every dollar helps. Every share matters.
Together, we can stand North Rim Strong.
