I am asking for donations so my daughter can stay home with my grandson as he recovers from a horrible accident. Here's what happened in her words.
I wasn’t sure if id ever be ready to talk about this past week and im not one to write a book like this on my social media. It has felt like the whole world around us stopped and i am so thankful for my family and that my baby is coming home
Thursday March 13th was a regular day. My baby boy was his happy energetic self and ran around all day . We got icecream and went home to play with his auntie faith who was home visiting from college. We spent a few hours playing and running around, around 8:30pm he was getting tired and when he does he gets a little extra crazy and rowdy . He went up his plastic little tikes slide in our living room a little to fast and slipped as he went down, falling off the side and hitting his head. He cried for no more than 5 minutes and had a small bump, and was back to acting his normal self eating a popsicle. He played some more, had fun in the bath, and went to bed. Woke up normal and was acting totally himself, eating fine, not fussing, babbling and saying new words like he has been daily. Not a single thing seemed off to me, his dad, or any of our family who had seen him that day. I would have taken him to the ER immediately if I had seen anything even slightly off. Boys being boys this wasn’t the first time he bumped his head and it seemed no different from any other little fall he’s taken.
9:40pm March 14th his daddy FaceTimed me while I was working. My baby boy had gone to bed upset after dad went through giving him anything and everything he might need or want. Shortly after he looked over to the baby’s bed and saw him throwing up but not seeming to have much of a response to it. He got him up and took him to the bathroom to get him cleaned up but he wasn’t acting normal, having his eyes closed and looking like he was trying to lay down and fall asleep again. Dad noticed this wasn’t normal for him and called me to show/tell me what was going on. I said I’d leave work asap and rush home. Not 5 minutes later I get the call that an ambulance was on the way because he was breathing but looked almost unconscious and was not responding. I got home right as the ambulance got there and we rushed him to the hospital. That was when this nightmare started. With no sedation at all my baby wasn’t responding to them putting multiple IV needles and different machines on him. Within 30 minutes he was intubated and taken into emergency surgery following a scan of his head showing an Epidural bleed in his head. They had to remove a piece of skull approximately 3x4 inches and remove the blood clot and put the bone back as well as a drain tube to collect excess blood/fluid. We waited hours not knowing what to expect until being moved to a PICU room where we saw our baby fully sedated, hooked up to a ventilator that was breathing for him, half of his head shaved and the scariest incision I’ve ever seen like something out of a movie. My baby’s life was in gods hands at this point and we didn’t know what outcome we had to look forward to or if he would ever be the same.
I never in a million years would have thought we would be here only 4 days later about to take our baby home. He has amazed me with how fast he is healing and progressing. He is off all his machines and his swelling is finally getting better. He is eating normal, playing with toys, so close to saying all the words he was before, and so far there’s no long term damage or weaknesses that are not getting better by the day. We are so appreciative of all of the hospital staff that saved my sweet boy and all of the family that has supported us, visited, and prayed over the last few days. I love all of you and most of all I love my baby boy and my other half more than anyone could ever imagine and this has shown how strong we are and made us stronger for when we welcome our new baby boy in June.
