Hiya, my name is Jenny Tornado, but this isn't about me. I'm starting this GoFundMe to help my friend Grace, whose home was ravaged by fire on the 4th of July.

They made it out with all of their pets, thankfully, but the losses are still incredibly substantial, and their landlord doesn't have insurance. They had a place to stay for that night, but that neighbor's landlord wouldn't let them stay beyond 24 hours. They were treated in the hospital for smoke inhalation and the like, got back out, and were regrouping when yet another shoe fell: the city was sealing the home up at midnight. So they then had to jump on emergency packing to get as many of their (and their pets') things that weren't terribly damaged out as they could to go... who knows where.

It's been wave after wave of awful in the last 3 days, and they could really use monetary assistance to recover, find their feet, de-smoke the salvageable belongings, rent a storage unit, put a down payment on a new home once that's found, replace destroyed necessities, and the list goes on and on. Below is in their own words from their Facebook post on the 4th.

"Tonight my house and the house next door caught on fire. I made it out with my 2 dogs, 3 sugar gliders, chinchilla, and 1 of my cats. (*The other cat was located safe and sound the next day*) I couldn't find the other cat... I live in a duplex, and the fire was primarily on the side of my neighbor. I've spoken with him, and he said it's a total loss for him. Thankfully, he wasn't home. I was and was able to get almost everyone out. My cat has not been seen yet, but I'm hopeful that he's ok and just hiding.

My landlord had no insurance..."

They'd just recently bought new AC units, including a mini split system for their sitting room... Unknown if any of them work now. They had just received a $20k hospital bed from a friend but are unsure if it's still functional either. They have so many accessibility items to help them get around in their wheelchair that may also need replacing. Their dogs got their post-fire checkups, so vet bills are incoming as well. The dogs are currently boarded at their vet, and the other animals are being cared for by loved ones until they have a direction to proceed.
