I need your support to get back on the golf course

Donation protected
Hello everyone,

Many of you that I have met know how much that I love golf. Golf introduced itself to me 6 months after I relocated from the Bay Area to Atlanta in 2019.

The sport has been a huge asset and blessing to my life. Over the past 3 years I have used a standing golf cart to play a round just about everyday. The sport has been therapy, meditation, and a companion to me. It’s a special relationship that many avid golfers would understand. A game that has helped me change my life and heal after sustaining a spinal cord injury in 2012. I was rear ended on the highway by a drunk driver.

During my short 3 year career I have experienced many highs competing in World Long Drive, Adaptive Golf tournaments, and I hit my first whole in one in August 2022. I caught the golf bug early spending much of my days totally immersing myself learning the culture, etiquette and discipline that it takes to be a solid golfer. I started working at a local golf course here in Atlanta and also volunteering as a coach at GSGA’s monthly adaptive golf clinics where we teach persons with disabilities the fundamentals of the game. Last year I took a trip to Canada to showcase seated golf at Golf Ontario. That trip was amazing.

As an ambassador, Golf has awarded once in a lifetime opportunities. I’ve played a handful of golfs nicest courses in the country. I have been Invited to PGA Tour stops where I was featured in Grant Thornton sponsored Diversity Equity and Inclusion commercials with Pros Colin Morikowa and range sessions with Jerry Kelly. Most memorable were the short documentaries on ESPN and interview on Access Hollywood which I will share those links with you in a separate post for all to view. It’s been one Hellava journey. I punched myself so many times last year.

With a new golf season on the horizon I have set a few new goals. First is to stay passionate about ‘why I play’ this game and to keep doing my part to help it grow. I love teaching as much as I love playing. My overall mission is to trailblaze a path to become the first adaptive golf pro, and launch my own adaptive program that offers resources to civilians and veterans so that they have equal access to grants for the equipment needed to play for a lifetime. I want to travel the country introducing and inspiring as many people as I possibly can to give golf a shot. I also would love to play the courses that I have on my bucket list.

This is why I NEED YOUR HELP?

It’s been 4 months since I have played a round due to my stand up golf chair being no longer operable. This absence has taken a huge toll on my physical and mental health. I have been in a battle with depression trying to figure out how to get back on course. Many of you that follow my story on social media @lydolife have noticed that I have fought to stay positive looking for a  breakthrough. I began sharing my cooking journey just to distract myself from how depleted I feel at times without being on the course. Cooking is fun but it’s not golf.

I am asking the community to help me raise 100k so that I can purchase 1) a new golf cart/chair, 2) a Full Size reliable pickup truck converted with adaptive equipment so that I can travel comfortably, 3) a trailer to haul the golf cart.

Over the last two years I have rented Uhaul trucks and trailers to get my cart to courses.

Below is an itemized list of the equipment needed:

Golf cart/chair $25,500
Trailer $3,800
Full size Truck (converted) $68,000
Total $97,300

100% of your donation will go towards the items listed above.

*** I am also reaching out to the local news outlets to ask if they can help publish the fundraiser for more visibility.

Thank you to all who donate and/or share the link. It excites me to see how many of you commented on my social media platforms to show your support to help me ‘Show Up Standing’ again on the golf course.

Thank you so much, we can do this together!
