My name is Gail Chisholm and Gonzalo Salas is my friend and neighbor in Easton, Md. I got to know him when he and his crew performed a major exterior painting job on my 1890 Victorian historic home with rotted wood siding. The job took 7 months. In that time, Gonzalo became my friend. He is a good man and loving father and always has a smile on his face. He has been in this country for over 25 years, has three American children, owns a home in Easton, runs a successful business, pays taxes and has no criminal record. I am helping Gonzalo's daughter, Julissa Quiahua-Trujillo, raise money for her father to attempt to stop his deportation to Mexico. His bond hearing is on August 28th. Whether he is allowed back into the community or remains detained at an ICE facility in Virginia, the costs will be a significant amount of money. Some of the costs: $4K for attorneys to represent him at the bond hearing, $15K attorney fees after the bond hearing, Bond-$5-7K, $1700 court fees. Additionaly since Gonzalo is detained and unable to work, his 21 year old daughter is managing his crew but this may certainly effect his business revenue.
From his daughter, Julissa: On 8/4/25, my father was detained by ICE after taking my seven year old brother to his dentist appointment and he remains in custody at this time. Every Latino/Hispanic's nightmare became true. My family and friends sent videos and photos so I could see what was happening. Me being the eldest daughter, I have become the head of the household and I'm trying to provide whatever my family needs, trying to keep my father's business afloat, contacting lawyers for his case while also attending to my two little brothers and my daughter.
My father has been in this country for over 25 years working as a painter and trying to give his children a better life then he had in Mexico. He has always enjoyed his work and is proud when he exceeds expectations. My father is a hardworking man and his only goal has been to provide for his family so we don't have to worry about where our next meal is coming from. He makes time for us everyday when he gets home from work even when he is tired. And even with his broken English, he's managed to make it far in life and is well known in the community for his detailed work and warm and happy nature.
If you know my father and you know what type of person he is please help not only me, but my baby brothers and his granddaughter who really need him more. We are trying to raise money to pay for my father's attorney so we can bring him home. Thank you.
