SUPPORT GNARLY NEIGHBOURS!
We are Jayden and Fiona, and it’s our passion to create a positive space in Seymour for kids and young adults to be able to express their creativity and individuality in a safe environment.
Gnarly Neighbours are currently holding 3 weekly skateboarding lessons at the Seymour skate park. We would love to expand this by supplying the kids with more skateboards and safety gear, therefore donations will make a huge difference to our Youth Group. It would enable us to purchase more equipment so the kids that don’t have, or can’t afford boards and safety gear, don’t feel excluded. We would also love to be able to offer portable ramps of different sizes at the skate park, so the beginners can learn in their own space safely away from the other skaters, as well as use them to offer school holiday programs and in school sessions. A trailer is essential to be able to transport the ramps and equipment to different venues.
Once this goal is achieved, and as Gnarly Neighbours grows, we hope to offer a range of different programming, workshops, lessons & events. We are currently planning to hold screen printing/ tie dye workshops, building workshops, art programs, before school breakfasts and the list goes on.
Listed below is a checklist of what is needed to expand Gnarly Neighbours!
Supporting our youth is in turn supporting the future of our community and anything that can be put towards any items in the following check list would greatly contribute.
1: Cage trailer 8m x 5m - $2,500
A trailer is the first step to making Gnarly Neighbours have no limits, carting around portable beginner ramps and equipment. It is a crucial part to running satellite programing, working our ways into local schools, community events, ndis sessions and providing the safest skate environment possible.
2: Material for ramps - $1,500
During winter half the skatepark gets covered in dew and makes the mark un-skateable. So we look to have portable ramps we set up at the old skatepark slab to create a safe environment. We are also looking for a suitable place we can use the ramp that has cover for when it's raining ect;
3: Skateboards x 30 - $3,000
30 boards is to ensure we can always be prepared to help any amount of kids, as well as run school session and group programing.
4: Helmets - $2,527
5: Pads (Knee, wrist & elbow) - $1,845
Safety is crucial! This will provide the safety for kids of all ages. These include sizes for the littlies all the way through to the big kids. (Even any parents wanting to have a go)
BACKGROUND COSTS
Extra money raised not going toward objects listed will be going towards background costs such as public liability insurance, indoor space hire (To get out of crappy weather), extra programming, and any other needed general supplies we will need for programs and events.
We believe no kids should miss out due to not being able to afford a skateboard or equipment, because as you can see it can add up to be expensive to get started with the right gear. This also gives parents a chance to let their kids give it ago and make sure it's something they are going to stick with before splashing cash on a fad.
Thank you!
