Support Gisimba Afterschool's Community Garden
Donation protected
Madison East High School's Humanitarian Club is working to fundraise for a garden/green space at the Gisimba Afterschool Program in Kigali, Rwanda. The program was previously an orphanage, and during the time of the Rwandan Genocide it protected and saved 409 children and 85 adults from certain death. This was at a time when the building had a capacity of 65 children. It is an incredible beacon of hope, and they now work as a preschool, spreading a message of kindness through trauma informed care and practices. The garden would supply food and activity to the preschoolers there, as well as serve as a memorial site for the people who gave their lives protecting the children during the genocide. They need $1500 dollars, and we hope that the loving global community can help support this endeavor. This would be a wonderful way to bring attention to a site that symbolizes triumph during tragedy and memorialize the lives lost and saved at the orphanage.
