My name is Ginger Lesher, I am a Life Scout of Troop 66 in Vermillion SD. I have been a Scout for eight years and have served as Senior Patrol Leader for multiple of those years. I have staffed at Scout Camps for the past two years over the summer and plan to return to the Many Point Scout Camp staff in Summer 2026. I am a part of the Order of the Arrow, which is the national honor society of Scouting America.
I am currently trying to achieve my Eagle Rank and in order to do this I need to complete a service project that is beneficial for my community. For my project I have decided to make Winter Weather Kits for the Yankton Contact Center. The Yankton Contact Center is a non-profit organization in Yankton which serves as a community resource for those in need of emergency assistance.
The goal of the Winter Weather kits is to provide essential items to individuals living in situations where they are living outdoors, in their car, with inconsistent heating, and others who will benefit from it.
Your donations will go towards items to build these Winter Weather Kits. The items included within the kits will be; thermal blankets, hand warmers, headlamps, and rain ponchos.
As a scout, I have had plenty of my fair share of sleeping outdoors or in tents in the summer as well as the winter. These kits are composed of items that I have found helpful in these situations and I know are beneficial to holding in heat and operating in the cold.
Thank you for considering donating to my Eagle Project, any and all help is appreciated even if that is just passing along the message.
I will be accepting donations from December 5th-January 1st
