Support George: A New Trike for Our Heartbeat

New update: Good afternoon everyone, at George's request, he is happy with the bike he has and does not want a new one. He is very thankful and appreciative that so many people donated for him but, he is content with what he has. With that being said, he would like his wagon replaced along with his front tire.

Obviously, neither of those will cost anywhere near the approximately $1,300 you have all graciously donated, and I have turned off the donate option for this fundraiser.

We understand that all of you donated to help George replace his bike. I am extending the opportunity for anyone to privately request a refund, no strings attached. The remainder of the funds not used for a tire and wagon will be put in an account for George to cover anything he might need for the bike in the future.

Please feel free to reach out to me (Rusty Richardson) directly on Facebook Messenger (GoFundMe will not let me add my personal contact info) if you would like a refund or have questions or comments. Refund requests will be kept private!

Quick update: I recently learned that George may not need to replace his current bike. I was going off of what I believed to be true, but it seems I may have misunderstood a conversation. I'm working to get more information about the condition of his current bike. At the very least, he'll have his current wagon repaired or replaced, and funding for tires and new batteries (when the time comes to replace them). Thank you all so much for your support—I’ll keep you posted.

Help George Keep Rolling – A New Trike for a Hometown Treasure

If you’ve driven through our town, chances are you’ve seen him: George, sitting on his bench along Main Street, waving at every car with that unforgettable grin. Or maybe you’ve caught a glimpse of him carefully crafting a crochet blanket, working intently. For so many of us, George is the heartbeat of Eaton Rapids—a quiet constant, always there with a wave, a smile, and a spirit that’s impossible to ignore.

Every morning, George starts his day at the T&D Coney Island. And every day after, he takes his spot on the bench, a living landmark of kindness and joy. When George isn’t there, people notice. They ask. They care. Because George is more than just a familiar face—he’s family.

Right now, George is in need of a new adult trike and a small trailer to carry his gear. The town has rallied behind him, and this GoFundMe is our way of turning that love into action. Every dollar raised will go directly toward getting George the gear he needs to keep rolling—literally.

Whether you’ve waved back at George a hundred times or just once, you know how much he brings to our lives. Let’s return the favor. Let’s make sure George can keep spreading joy from that bench—and beyond—for years to come.

George's daughter, Tammie, said that an electric trike would enhance George's mobility, so we're setting the goal high. This will ensure we can get one that will be a perfect fit, with a canopy to protect him from the weather, that can tow a wagon for all of his gear.

Please consider donating and sharing. Small town hearts can make big things happen.
