I am Tracy Ricks, a Licensed Holistic Therapist, and founder of GEMS Counseling/Coaching Services LLC. This June we are launching a free 8-week counseling and mentoring program for underprivileged, at-risk girls ages 14-19.
Empower & Transform The Future of Young Girls
This initiative focuses on overcoming mental health adversities by aiming to build self-esteem, resilience, and leadership in the face of rapidly rising mental health crisis among young girls. Our program features weekly group sessions including individual counseling/coaching as much as needed to address the urgent need for mental health support for each girl.
Why "Girl POWER" Focuses on the Mental Health of Young Girls?
Recent statistics paint a very alarming picture:
- 57% of high school girls reported feelings of depression/sadness or hopelessness (CDC, 2023).
- Suicide ranks as the second-leading cause of death among young people aged 10-34 (CDC, 2023).
- 30% of high school girls have considered suicide, a number alarmingly high (CDC, 2023).
