Help Gary Cape Replace His Car After a Devastating Accident

(I'm writing this on behalf of my father, Dick Epplett. My dad wanted help creating this Go Fund Me for his friend, so the following are his words.)

Dear Friends, Family, and Kind Strangers,

I’m reaching out today to share the story of my long-time friend, Gary Cape, who recently experienced a life-altering car crash. Gary is a 78-year-old senior citizen and has been a part of my life since grade school. He’s always been a kind, hardworking person, but now he finds himself in a difficult situation that no one should face alone.

Gary was driving from Eugene to his apartment in Oakridge late at night when he believes he hit a patch of ice. The next thing he remembers is waking up in the emergency room, shaken and sore but thankful to be alive. While he didn’t suffer any serious injuries, he was banged up pretty badly and unfortunately his car was a total loss.

Gary lives in a rural community, choosing to live outside of the city because it’s more affordable on his limited income. Gary lives solely on his Social Security income and has no financial cushion to fall back on. With his car destroyed and no way to replace it, he is now without reliable transportation. This is a major blow, especially since Gary depends on his car for everyday tasks, appointments, and staying connected with his community.

I am asking for your help to support Gary in purchasing a replacement car so that he can regain his independence and peace of mind. Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a huge difference for Gary during this challenging time. Your generosity will allow him to get back on the road and continue living with dignity.
