Support Gage In His Fight Against Depression

Depression is a silent killer. It doesn’t leave visible scars, yet it takes lives every day. It strips away joy, energy, and hope, often leaving those who suffer feeling completely alone—even when surrounded by love.

Depression is more than just sadness. It’s an illness that convinces you that you are not worth saving, that the world would be better off without you. It isolates, numbs, and erodes any sense of hope. It distorts reality, making even the most loving relationships feel distant and empty. Those who suffer often stop seeing a purpose in their own lives. They believe they are a burden to the people they love, that their pain is too much to share, and that their absence would bring relief rather than grief. The cruelest part is that depression turns your own mind against you, making these lies feel like undeniable truths.

To the blind eye, someone battling severe depression may seem perfectly fine—outgoing, personable, even joyful. That’s the case with my husband, Gage. To those who meet him, he’s warm, engaging, funny, and full of life. But beneath the surface, he has been fighting a relentless battle with chronic depression for over 10 years.

According to Johns Hopkins, treatment-resistant depression affects 30% of people diagnosed with major depressive disorder, and unfortunately, my husband is one of these people. Over the past decade, he has tried everything—talk therapy, medication management, EMDR, IV ketamine infusions—but nothing has provided lasting relief. In the past three months, his depression has worsened to the point of overwhelming thoughts of self-harm.

Despite this, Gage is choosing to fight. He has made the brave decision to enter a leading mental health treatment center for four weeks—one of the top depression treatment facilities in the U.S. There, he will undergo an intensive program, meeting with a dedicated care team from 9 AM to 5 PM every day.

Depression is real. It is debilitating. And yet, it remains so widely misunderstood. My hope in sharing this is not just to ask for help, but to shed light on the reality of mental illness and fight the stigma surrounding it.

This treatment is expensive, but we believe nothing is more important than Gage’s life and well-being. If you are in a position to help support him financially, we would be deeply grateful. If not, we completely understand and ask that you consider reaching out—there are other ways to support us through this.

Thank you for your kindness, your generosity, and most of all, for recognizing that mental health matters.
