My name is Elizabeth Camarillo Gutierrez, and I’m organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my uncle, Gabriel Camarillo Marina, who is currently being held in Florence Detention Center in Arizona. We are working urgently to secure his release and fight his deportation — but the legal and bond costs are overwhelming for our family.

Gabriel has lived in Tucson for over a decade and is the heart of our family. He helped raise me when I faced childhood homelessness in Tucson, and thanks to him, I graduated as valedictorian from Flowing Wells High School and went on to attend the University of Pennsylvania. Today, I have a strong career in tech, I’m a published author, and I’ve been able to give back by supporting my brother through college — a generational ripple effect made possible by my uncle’s love and care.

Gabriel is a mechanic who provides affordable, reliable services to working families across Tucson. He’s raised his children and now has three young grandchildren who adore him. He rescues stray dogs (including my childhood dog, Whiskey), shows up for his neighbors when their cars break down, and never misses a grandkid’s soccer game. He is not just our family’s foundation — he’s a pillar of the Tucson community.

We are currently facing the following urgent costs:

• Immigration Attorney Fees (Abogada Ayala – [phone redacted]): $5,500

• Work Permit Application Fee: $500

• Deportation Suspension Filing: $1,200

• Bail (Fianza): Estimated between $7,000 and $15,000
