If you've ever had the privilege of being served by Gabrielle "Gabby" Drexler, you know exactly why we're here. For nearly four years, since October 20, 2021, Gabby has been the heart behind so many smiles at our Cordata Dairy Queen. She doesn't just serve food, she builds relationships. Every shift, she makes people feel seen, remembered, and valued. Customers don't just come in for ice cream; many come in because they know Gabby will be there. They ask for her by name, and many tell us they stop by every week just to see her. What most people never knew was what Gabby was carrying behind that smile.
A little over a year ago, Gabby lost her father after years of health challenges. During the week, she gave everything she had to our team, our restaurant, and our guests. On weekends, she cared for her dad and helped him with the household tasks he could no longer manage. Even while carrying that tremendous weight, Gabby continued to show up every day with kindness, compassion, and an infectious smile. When her father passed away, we were overwhelmed by the number of comments from guests praising Gabby for the joy she brought into their lives. It was heartbreaking to realize that while she was quietly grieving, she never stopped pouring into others.
This past Tuesday, tragedy struck again. Gabby lost her mother in a devastating fire. In less than a year, she has experienced the unimaginable loss of both of her parents. Anyone who knows Gabby knows she is one of the first people to help someone else, but one of the last people to ask for help herself. In fact, she was hesitant to let us create this fundraiser because that's simply who she is. With her blessing, we've created this GoFundMe so we can do what she has done for so many of us—show up with love, compassion, and support.
Right now, Gabby is taking time away from work to be with her family, grieve, and begin navigating a future without both of her parents. The financial burden of time away from work, household expenses, groceries, and the countless unexpected costs that come with such unimaginable loss is something we hope our community can help ease. If you've ever experienced Gabby's kindness, shared a laugh with her, or simply believe that people like Gabby deserve to be cared for the way they care for everyone else, we ask that you consider donating. No gift is too small. If you're unable to give financially, sharing this page and keeping Gabby and her family in your thoughts means more than you know. Gabby has spent years serving smiles to our community. Now it's our turn to surround her with the love, kindness, and support she has so freely given to others. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for helping us take care of one of the very best among us.
