On April 11th, a fast-moving fire destroyed the barn at Fresh Acres. Although the goats and the burro were able to make it out of the barn safely, Mac and Cheese, two beloved pigs that are stars of the Fall Festival petting zoo weren’t able to escape. Thirty brand new heritage turkey chicks were also lost, along with all the feed in the barn.
As Zeke and Dana and their family process their loss and work to rebuild, they are already thinking ahead and have said that the Fresh Acres Fall Festival will go on as planned this fall. Fresh Acres is a special part of our community. Their pasture-raised livestock and the corn maze, pumpkin patch, and many other activities that are part of the Fall Festival have become a staple for local families. They have also been a generous supporter of local nonprofits including 4-H and FFA. Please help us take some of the burden off the Berg family so they can rebuild and focus on their mission of providing locally grown food and fun.
