Frequency Lounge was built to be more than a nightlife venue. It is a private members-only creative lounge and community space in Tulsa, Oklahoma, built to give artists, DJs, entrepreneurs, vendors, performers, and creatives a safe and welcoming place to connect and express themselves.

As we continue growing, we’ve reached a point where our space needs to grow with us.

We’re launching a six-month, $32,000 fundraising campaign to complete major renovations at Frequency Lounge, invest in equipment that will improve the quality of our events, and build the infrastructure we need to keep our doors open and continue serving our community.we want to be completely transparent about where the money is going.

️ $20,642.36 — Venue Renovations:

The work includes demolition, debris removal, framing, construction and relocation of walls and doors, plumbing, electrical and lighting work, sheetrock and finishing, bathroom improvements, tile work, materials, supplies and other construction needs. Our contractor requires approximately 40% upfront to begin the project — $8,256.94. These improvements will add a second bathroom, safer stairs, & railing to help us create a more functional, comfortable and higher-quality venue.

$5,000 — Reliable Equipment Transportation:

Running Frequency Lounge means constantly transporting DJ equipment, event supplies, decorations, merchandise and other materials. This isn’t intended to be a luxury vehicle. We’re looking for something affordable, reliable and functional for the work we do.

$1,600 — DJ Equipment:

Music and DJs are a major part of what we do. Purchasing our own professional DJ equipment will allow us to provide more consistent equipment for our DJs, improve our production quality and remove our dependence on borrowed or personally owned equipment.

$400 — Administrative Computer:

A dedicated administrative laptop will be used for bookings, scheduling, finances, marketing, membership management, event planning, documents and everyday business operations.

️ $4,357.64 — Project Cushion:

Our contractor’s estimate specifically notes that construction costs may change if unexpected problems are discovered or additional materials are required. The remaining portion of our $32,000 goal will provide a small cushion for unexpected renovation expenses, additional materials, repairs, equipment needs or other costs directly connected to completing this project and improving the venue.

Why We’re Asking Our Community:

We’re a small, black-owned business. We don’t have a massive corporation or investor writing a check behind the scenes. What we do have is a community that has shown up for us. You’ve attended our events. You’ve performed here. You’ve DJed here. You’ve vended here. You’ve celebrated birthdays here. You’ve created here. You’ve brought your friends here. You’ve shared our flyers and supported our ideas. We’re asking for your help building what’s next.

We don’t have to raise $30,000 overnight. Our first major milestone is $8,257, which will allow us to meet the contractor’s 40% starting requirement and begin moving the renovation project forward. We plan to share updates throughout the campaign so our supporters can see where we are, what’s been completed, what has been purchased and what comes next.
