Help Us Bring Free Healthcare to Babar Island
(Check Google Maps—you’ll be surprised!)
This year, with the support of the Faculty of Health at Universitas Kristen Indonesia Maluku and the local community health center, we are planning a free health check-up program for the people of Babar Island—my hometown—when I return in August. The screening will focus on non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and preventable maternal mortality.
In many remote areas like ours, where universal health coverage has not yet been achieved, basic healthcare is a luxury. To access routine check-ups or screenings, people often need to spend up to 20% of their monthly income. As a result, preventable illnesses go undetected, and treatable conditions can become life-threatening.
We believe everyone deserves access to basic healthcare because health is a crucial element of human capital and economic development.
This initiative will provide:
• Free blood pressure and blood sugar screenings (up to 400 people)
• Cholesterol tests (up to 400 people)
• Blood uric acid tests (up to 400 people)
• Cervical cancer screenings (up to 50 woman)
• High-risk pregnancy screenings (up to 50 pregnant woman)
• Anemia screenings (up to 100 teenage girl)
But we can’t do it alone—we need your help.
Your donation—even just $10—can help us cover essential testing and screening supplies. That $10 could help save someone’s life.
Help me help them.
Together, we can bring affordable health services to the community of Babar Island.
Donate and make a difference.
Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions. Thank you!
With love,
Juls
