My name is Jason Kelch, from Austin, Texas. I am trying to raise money for Fred Velez @ Christian Life Church. Fred came to the United States 14 months ago from Ecuador. Fred is 28 years old and has been a serving member of Christian Life Austin for about a year now.

Fred’s only means of transportation has been his hybrid bicycle, which he has ridden to church every Wednesday night as well as every early Sunday morning. In the heat of the Texas summer or freezing winter months, Fred will ride over 8 miles to our church, sporting his backpack, which carries his church attire, including his tie and dress shoes. On Sundays, after changing his clothes, Fred will welcome new and existing members of Christian Life Austin. After all 3 services are over, Fred will put his riding clothes back on and set off to ride another 8 miles back to his apartment.

I saw Fred walking up to the church with no bike and learned that someone had cut his lock in the middle of the night and stole his bike. I think, as Christians, we should help everyone as much as we can. Especially someone like Fred, who serves his church and loves people like Fred loves people. Fred has no one here to turn to for help, and after finding his bicycle gone, still finds a way to get to the church to serve his church family and Jesus Christ.

I would love to see Fred get the best bike, moped, or whatever means of transportation he decides to get with the money from 100% of this fundraiser. Let’s see what Jesus and the Christian Church of Austin and anyone willing to participate in this fundraiser can do to help our brother, Fred. God bless all of you!
