As a lot of you know, all Foxtrot locations closed their doors abruptly on April 23, 2024. Hundreds of people were given zero notice before losing their jobs due to no fault of their own. One of those FT locations was my neighborhood store on Southport which, over the years, has become dear to my heart. Whether I was going in for my daily coffee/tea, running in for a quick snack, or buying a gift on my way to meet with a friend, Foxtrot Southport was always a place I could rely on…and what made it that way was the people who worked there. The staff were a joy to see on a daily basis as I learned their names and where they were from. Some of them came from other Foxtrot locations, and some of them moved on to run their own stores. I learned about their hobbies, tastes in music, families, chosen families, and goals for the future. I would see them walking down the street and say hi, and hang out with them while they were on break as I was walking my dog or working in my garden. These are the people that make a neighborhood meeting spot worth going back to again and again. They were an important part of our little community, they were our friends, and we’re going to miss seeing them every day.
