Support for Zurg's Hunger Protesters, the Asian American Community of Siskiyou County and their Legal Expenses.

Zurg began his hunger strike after the police killing of a Hmong man in Siskiyou County California during an evacuation order from the Lava wild fire.  An excessive use of force of around 60 shots were fired upon the man from the side of his truck while his wife and three kids followed behind in another vehicle.  Police claimed the man had a firearm and also unclearly stating that the man “may have fired” the gun.  There was a firefighter witness who said he didn’t see any gun and all hell broke lose only when what seems like the man have pumped the gas a little.  There have not been any release of body cameras nor police dash cams as demanded by the community.

The death of the Hmong man was actually the final draw of the straw when tensions had been building up in the county prior.  Racial threats, police profiling, and a city ordinance banning water to a specific geographical location predominately of Asian decent were events leading up to the police shooting.  Siskiyou County Sherif have incited threats from the local community through their Facebook page with locals even making post such as, “I’ve heard they can technically be ‘burned out’ of there and it’s not illegal”.  When the lava fire came the Hmong claimed the firefighters stood on the sideline to watch.  On the other hand, police and fire responders said they were being blocked by the Hmong people.  Zurg, an active voice for the community, said enough is enough and declared his hunger strike on July 6th, 2021.

Zurg’s Hunger Strike and Protestor’s Demands:

Zurg speaks on behalf of the community demanding the release of all videos in the killing of the Hmong man and an external investigation.  He demand rescinding the ban of water going into the Asian lands.  He’s also demanding external investigation into the Board of Supervisors and the County Sherif Jeremiah LaRue for corruption, racist ordinances, and racial profiling.  Furthermore, he demands public transparency of any investigation into the people who have committed arson on the Asian private properties.

We look for your support in funding Zurg and the Hmong/Asian Siskiyou Community’s cause for protest resources, legal expenses, and to continue the fight for justice.
