On October 9th we lost our incredible friend Ruby Frankel to a sudden pulmonary embolism. Ruby had just received her Master’s in Clinical Psychology and was about to start a promising career as a therapist. Ruby loved many things in life, but her sister Zoey was Number 1.
Zoey had a stroke soon after birth resulting in moderate cognitive impairment and a seizure disorder. Those 2 conditions limit the extent to which Zoey can live independently, and we know that she will always need a significant amount of care and supervision. Zoey loves her music playlists, hip hop dance classes, costume parties, cooking new pasta recipes and attending the Ed Asner Special Needs Day Program.
As we can all imagine, Cheryl’s life has been turned upside down by Ruby’s passing. Gradually, as the traditional period of mourning transitions to more worldly concerns, Cheryl’s main concern is ensuring that Zoey is taken care of, now and always.
At this time we are creating a financial support fund for Zoey to help take some of the weight off Cheryl. Please consider contributing what you can. The money will all go directly to a special needs trust in Zoey’s name.
