Radical Moms Aid for Wayne State Student Activist
Donation protected
Calling all radical Moms (for children, animals, and a more just world) to rally around a college student activist in our community!
As you probably know, Wayne State students set up an encampment on May 23, 2024, after university officials refused to engage in dialogue about financial divestment from the genocidal siege on Gaza. I spent time with students in the encampment, which was a safe place full of love, care, education, and dreams for a better world. University officials did not engage with the students in good faith, and WSU police raided the encampment in the early hours of May 30.
Many students were arrested, including a young person I'm connected to as a professor and Mom. They were forcibly removed from the camp and their personal belongings discarded, including artistic documents they had studied since high school, technology used for engagement in school, and many of their personal belongings.
This young person was at the heart of encampment organizing, and continues to bravely use their voice to stand up. I want to help them replace what they lost, even though they would never ask for it. All remaining funds will go to aid for families in Rafah through The International Rescue Committee. Every dollar helps - small donations are full of just as much love as large ones. Thank you for considering giving.
