Hello we are fundraising for our neighbours who have lost their homes in Vale de bordeira.

On Sunday a fire came ripping towards the village of Barão de São joão.

Vale de bordeira is part of the beautiful forest that surrounds the village, the valley was the last front before reaching the village.

People, animals and vehicles evacuated carrying only what they could.

Some have recently arrived in the area and spent life savings on land. Some have lived for over 30 years keeping horses and growing food tending and loving the valley.

We believe around 11 dwellings have been taken from the fire, for now lots of debris, belongings and burnt trees need to be cleared away before any sort of rebuild can begin.

I am collecting funds to share between everyone who has lost, to help organise land clearance to take away what has burnt, to take some pressure off the huge tragedy these people are facing. With the money we will hire people to help take the larger items and dispose of them safely, to make the land a safe environment again and able to grow back healthy and strong

If there is any funds left after the clearing we will divide between the people who have lost.

I am asking the community to help take some pressure away from those who have lost in these tried times, so our friends can take some time to rest and rebuild and work through this tragedy.

Thanks to the firefighters the fire did not reach the village of Barão on Sunday. since then the people of Vale de bordeira, those that have lost everything have been watching new fires reigniting and threatening to burn the few houses that remain, using the last strength they have to douse fires, feed and provide places for the Bombeiros to rest as the fire is still burning and threatening villages beyond.
