Hey there,
I am reaching out as a Gold Star Family member. We lost our hero and beloved, Travis Martin Woods, who was killed in action at 21 on September 9, 2007. My immediate family has struggled since his passing, although we have tried, the wounds have not healed. We have all handled and struggled with processing such a loss in very different ways, and still struggle to this day. I wish there were words to describe such an incredible human who left us too soon. It breaks my heart thinking about how everything would be so incredibly different if he were here. He was our rock. A lot has happened since he left. Without going into too much detail, my mom was able to buy my great grandparents house (who passed a few weeks after him) with his life insurance. It is the house my Papa grew up in, where many Thanksgiving and Christmas celebrations have been had. Where Travis took his first steps, easter egg hunts and every possible celebration you can think of. This house holds so many dear memories, never to be forgotten. It is home. But this house is old and in need of some serious repairs... black mold, roof replacement, property tax has backed up. We have done what we can financially up to this point, but the reality is starting to settle in. My hope is that we can finally do the renovations necessary to make it safe again without the constant worry, especially for the new additions to our family (Baby Travis has graced us with his presence and he is an adorable monster!) who frequents here on the daily. I would love to surprise my hard working, stressed out and tired mom with some relief. Much love, happiness and joy to you all. Semper Fi.
