Friends and family,
Antony Mikhail Gayed Jr. was born June 2 in New Orleans, Louisiana - 7 weeks before his due date. His mother and father, Meredith and Tony Gayed, live in Charleston, South Carolina, and were on a short weekend away in New Orleans. Because of his premature arrival, Antony Jr. will need to be treated in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of a New Orleans Hospital for 2-4 weeks, assuming that no further medical complications appear.
Tony and Meredith will need to stay in New Orleans to be with Antony Jr. during that time and, since they are far from Charleston, will need many things often taken for granted while living at home. Additionally, they will also need to address the steep expense of medical treatment in a foreign hospital system.
This GoFundMe was created to help address these two challenges, and so funds raised here will be given directly to Tony and Meredith. In their discretion, they can use them to defray the cost of living near the hospital (e.g., lodging, rental car, gas, food, clothing, household items, etc.) and/or medical expenses. After thoughtful consideration, they estimate that $6,000 will address these expenses, and will ensure that their focus can be on Antony Jr. and taking care of his needs. Please help in whatever way you can - including by sharing this post with others who might want to help!
