Help Tita Silvia in Her Time of Need

My great grandmother, Silvia —who we all lovingly call Tita - At 89 years old, she has shown unwavering strength and faith throughout her life. A true fighter, she bravely beat breast cancer 20 years ago and has faced every challenge since with grace and resilience.

Tita was born and raised in Peru, where her faith was a cornerstone of her life. She never missed church and always had a bottle of her favorite Inca Kola nearby. She took pride in raising four strong daughters and lived by example, showing us all what unconditional love, resilience, and humility look like.Family meant everything to Tita. She always had a warm meal ready for us, and even though she wasn’t always the most outwardly affectionate, her love was felt in everything she did. We poured our love into her in return, and she embraced it with joy.

Tita enjoyed the simple things: crocheting, reading the newspaper, and being home. She had a sharp mind for numbers and managed her finances with care. Her kindness, patience, and unwavering faith made her a joy to be around-she never raised her voice, always prayed for others, and gave of herself quietly and generously. About two weeks ago, Tita was hospitalized with a severe infection that has taken a toll on her body. Right now, we don't know what the outcome will be. If she can recover enough to eat and process food on her own, she'll be transferred to a nursing home. If not, the next step would be hospice care.

Everything now depends on how her body responds in the coming days.

As we prepare for whatever comes next, our family is facing overwhelming medical expenses and the potential costs of either nursing home care or hospice. We are doing our best to stay strong and be present with Tita, and we're reaching out for support to help cover these unexpected costs.

Hace aproximadamente dos semanas, Tita fue hospitalizada por una infección severa que ha afectado mucho su cuerpo. Por ahora, no sabemos cuál será el desenlace. Si logra recuperarse lo suficiente como para comer y procesar alimentos por sí sola, será trasladada a un asilo. Si no es posible, la siguiente opción sería cuidados de hospicio. Todo depende ahora de cómo responda su cuerpo en los próximos días. Mientras nos preparamos para lo que venga, nuestra familia está enfrentando gastos médicos abrumadores y los posibles costos del asilo o el hospicio. Estamos haciendo todo lo posible por mantenernos fuertes y estar presentes con Tita, y por eso acudimos a ustedes en busca de apoyo para cubrir estos gastos inesperados.
