HELP US RAISE FUNDS TO COMPLETE THE MATTAPOISETT RAIL TRAIL
Phase 2A, which will connect the existing trail to Industrial Drive, is the focus of work now. Once completed, the rail trail will connect with neighborhoods north of Route 6 and, most importantly, eventually allow for safe cycling and walking to our half-mile "connector" and the Marion pathway.
Phase 2A is the focus of work now and continues to make forward progress. This important section will connect our existing path ending at Railroad Avenue to the Park and Ride on North Street. (See map.) Phase 2A's critical connection at Route 6 includes creating a safe crossing for cyclists and walkers.
Recently, the project scoping checklist was completed and approved with MassDOT. This allows the Town's design firm (PARE) to earnestly advance the 25% design submission.
2026 APPEAL
Since water is the essence of life, our Amenities Plan "Wish List" has always included the installation of a water station along the rail trail. We believe now is the time to make that wish come true!
The Town is on board and recommends that the water station be installed along Goodspeed Island Road near the Depot Street parking lot.
We anticipate that the cost of a high-quality water station (that includes a standard water fountain, bottle refill spout, and dog bowl), the plumbing, and its installation will run approximately $10,000. The timing of this appeal for the water station works well as we wait for the next Phase 2A funding need.
We highly value our supporters who share our mission to complete the Mattapoisett Rail Trail. Thank you so much for your support.
