Jessica was a beautiful, vibrant woman who was pregnant with her 7th child when she got Covid. After her battle with the virus, doctors determined they had to deliver the premature baby and put mom on a ventilator. Jessica tragically passed away 10 days later, leaving her husband Matt, 7 children, a loving family and many friends devastated. Baby Margaret never got to be held by her mother.
Matt somehow drove nearly an hour every day this past winter to see his newborn in the NICU, all the while searching for a new home and caring for his grieving children. He is a wonderful chef working in a west Michigan restaurant.
Jessica was one of the most selfless human beings... an amazing wife and mother, educator, an avid gardener and a great cook. She leaves behind husband Matt, and children Josie 22, Ike 14, Sam 13, Ida 6, Esther 5, Jack 2 and baby Margaret almost 1 now. This Christmas season will be extremely hard for the family, and it is also five of the seven kids' birthdays in December (and Matt's also). If you would like to help support this beautiful and faithful family this holiday season, any contribution would help make a brighter season for them.

More on their story...
The family has loving support from both sets of grandparents, as well as fantastic aunts and uncles. They are a true testament to having a strong family bond, faith in God, perseverance, and the power of love. Baby Margaret has been on breast milk, just as her Mama would have wanted, thanks to the wonderful network of local breastfeeding moms and a very organized Grandma keeping it going. Margaret is healthy, thriving and a very happy, well- loved baby.
With the help and support of a wonderful community, Matt found a house close to both grandparents and has made it into a home Jessica would have loved. A beautiful portrait of her hangs in the living room now, watching over her kids.
This Christmas, this family of eight could use warm winter items, some holiday gifts, and financial support to help with things like daycare to give the Grandmas a little respite. If you are looking to make the season brighter for a good family, this is it. We thank you in advance for any gift, great or small.
