***UPDATE 9/9***
I just wanted to make it clear why the GoFundMe says "on behalf of Leilani Michael". All funds are being transferred to my sister Sebeʻs (Leilaniʻs) account and from there, being distributed towards outstanding bills, etc. and to Sunshineʻs kids. Mahalo everyone. We are grateful for every dollar, share, prayer and all the love you have been sending to us the last few days.
***FUNDRAISER UPDATE***
We were informed that the family will not be responsible for any medical bills. But still appreciate any donations to help with the children, family and funeral costs. Mahalo nui.
On Tuesday night, September 2nd, my eldest sister, Sunshine Bolen (Michael) had a brain aneurysm at work. She was rushed to the hospital, where she remained in critical condition in the ICU for about 3 days. Unfortunately, the damage to her brain was too severe. On Friday afternoon, September 5th, she went to be with the Lord and our dad, Hanes, in heaven.
Sunshine is a mother of 6 beautiful children, Easton (27), Hunter (25), Tehani (18), Asher (16), Duke (14) and Eli (12).
She is the eldest of 6 children (in order: Sunshine, Pua, Sebe, Bebi, Tabol & Dil) from Francesca & Hanes (Johnny) Michael.
There are a few things in mind that we’d like to put the monies toward:
Her children. While Easton & Hunter are working young adults, we would like to alleviate any added financial stress they might have by taking off prolonged amounts of time from work. Tehani just started at UH Hilo earlier this fall and Asher, Duke and Eli are still in high school and middle school. Although they have always had the support from their aunties & uncle, Sunshine was a single mother taking care of her children. We would like to ensure that there is some semblance of financial security for them.
Our sister Pua, lives in Palau and was not able to join us during the last few days. We would love for her to be able to fly to Oahu with her two children to join us at some point. Flights to and from Palau are so expensive, currently starting around $1,600 and up. We were only able to get our mom here from Palau, using someone else’s miles on United.
We have received so many messages from family and friends over the last few days expressing a desire to help and are so grateful for that. We are humbly asking at this time for that help in the form of donation, if you are willing and able.
I am sure I am missing things when it comes to finances during this time and the days ahead. But we are grateful for any type of donation to help relieve some of the burden from the family & to ensure her children are taken care of.
Thank you, ke kmal mesulang, mahalo nunui from the family of Sunshine Bolen.
