We are saddened at the passing of Officer Manny Ortiz, a 22 year veteran of the Rochester Police Department, in a tragic accident on Saturday, November 2. Ortiz served in the Community Affairs Bureau as a crime prevention officer and was well known in the community.
Officer Ortiz leaves behind a fiancee and three children. The military, the police department, the sheriff's office, or the fire department. These are all people defending us, protecting us, When something tragic happens to them - there are two things we need to do. We honor them, but also make sure that we're taking care of their families the way they took care of our families.
