As some of you already know, our loved ones, Lexy and Dan are due to have baby #4 in the coming week. It has been a long journey getting to this point and the next leg of the journey is still very unknown and unfolding a bit more each day.
At the 20 week ultrasound they found out something wasn't right with their babies heart and after being sent for further testing the baby was diagnosed with a CHD (a congenital heart defect), called TGA (transposition of the great arteries). Upon the birth of this precious baby it will immediately be whisked away for a heart procedure to keep it stable until its strong enough to go for open heart surgery that will be required just days after it is born. The road to recovery is unknown as doctors don’t know the extent of what they are dealing with until baby is in their care.
For the month of January, Lexy and Dan have been living primarily at Ronald Mcdonald house, while trying to maintain a stable environment for their 8 year old daughter and 1 year old twins back home in Abbotsford. They will need to continue to live between Children’s Hospital and home for the coming weeks after baby has made its' arrival.
We are hoping to alleviate some of the financial stresses they might be having, so they can focus on their families emotional needs and care. Being a one income family with Dan taking time of work to support the kids and Lex, the bills are piling up in Abbotsford as well as in Vancouver.
Every moment spent as a family matters so much right now as the coming weeks unfold. We are reaching out to family and friends to lift them up at this time. Every little bit will help ease the financial stresses, don't think a small amount won't matter, it will mean the world to them. If a donation isn’t possible please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
We will keep you updated as their baby arrives and the family goes through all the unknowns.
Love from,
the Dekker and Leyen families
