Support for the Chicago Birthworks Collective

The Ambitious Kitchen and Gathered Nutrition teams are thrilled to support The Chicago Birthworks Collective -- an incredible collective of wellness practitioners serving Black & Brown women and families across the Chicagoland area. These amazing women provide doula services, postpartum care, lactation support and more. We will be matching donations up to $3,000 to help them provide services, education, and outreach specifically to Black and Brown mamas and families directly in Chicago and across their network.
The data: did you know that the U.S. is in LAST place for maternal mortality rates among all developed nations across the globe? Seven hundred women die each year from pregnancy or childbirth complications, and Black women are over 2.5x more likely to die from these complications.
Along with major changes to the glaring institutionalized racism occurring in our healthcare systems, especially for Black mothers, it's incredibly important to support organizations that are on the ground helping Black mothers to have not only a safe pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum experience (which should be guaranteed) but also one that's empowering and full of joy.
Monique personally worked with an amazing doula service during her pregnancy and childbirth experience, and want the most at-risk mothers in our community to have access to the same care and support.
