Zach, Izzy, Ben, Owen, Rosie, and their older brother Dunkan lost their dad, Tom, this last week unexpectedly.

On Thursday afternoon, after not hearing from their dad for a few days, a wellness check was called in, and he was found deceased in his bed. It seems to have been from a medical complication, though the exact cause is unknown.

Needless to say, this was not expected. The kids were set to do a belated Christmas celebration with him that weekend, so the news was shocking.

We are navigating immense grief on top of normal life. The older kids have taken time off work and school and are still trying to pay their normal bills. There will be therapy costs forthcoming as we start recovery from this loss at such a young age.

On top of that, Elizabeth is the executor of his will, and while he thankfully had one, he had not made any arrangements for his death. Dunkan and Elizabeth are handling the costs associated with cremation, funeral, and the biohazard cleaning of the camper so that it can be sold. These costs escalate quickly with no estate to cover them.
