*UPDATE* We have reached the target which is absolutely amazing and humbling. Thank you all so sincerely for your generosity. It’s incredible to think we raised an amount where we can make this trip a reality for the Bance boys to take their Dad back home. If we go over target, all of the funds will go towards the boys needs and well-being in the future. Thank you once again for your kindness at this very difficult time.
Very tragically the Bance boys' Dad, Simon passed away suddenly on Friday 4th September 2020. Due to a massive and unforeseen heart attack, he was taken, in a matter of seconds, from his life here and his family, in particular his beloved boys, Ciaran (11) Aidan (8) and Ryan (7).
Simon loved his boys more than anything in the world and he centred his entire life around them, especially their love of sport which was also his passion - in particular, cricket. Although the list is long - rugby, bike-riding, gaming or helping them cultivate tomatoes and other veg he gave them his all. In short, Simon lived for his kids.
We have started this fundraiser to allow Simon's sons to be able to scatter their Dad's ashes in his birth country of New Zealand in a few months time. As a family, the boys never got to see or experience this part of their parental heritage and with the sudden passing of their Dad it is something that their mum Orla feels would be an important part of what will inevitably be a complex journey of healing. Having all been born and bred in Essex in the UK, it is a land they have yet to discover and so it would also be an important factor in broadening their awareness of their far flung roots and a trip of a lifetime to celebrate their wonderful Dad, in a land that he truly loved.
Simon's mum also still lives in NZ and so this memorial service and ash scattering would also provide her some comfort in what are and will inevitably be, dark days.
As friends and family of the Bance boys, we would be incredibly thankful if you would donate to help provide this experience for the boys in the way that they deserve and attempt to give them something to look forward to after this unthinkable tragedy.
