Support for the Ashmont Grill and Tavolo Crews
Donation protected
As we all know, the response to the COVID-19 virus has shuttered our local restaurants and businesses. Even if a restaurant or bar can offer take-out service, many of our friends and neighbors are out of work without the paycheck and tips they rely on.
Our favorite neighborhood haunts, like the Ashmont Grill has closed and Tavolo is relying on limited take out. These places are more than restaurants and bars that offer us great food. The Grill and Tavolo are regular places to gather with friends and family, celebrate special events and holidays, and in some cases come together for a cause. The staff have become friends and have given so much of themselves to the Community over the years. Not only do they host great holiday parties, wine pairings, Pasta tours and pig roasts, but they host countless community events, and support local artists, brewers, businesses, and charities.
I am hoping you can help me by raising as much money as possible to assist the Grill and Tavolo staff who are going without a paycheck or tips in the near future. Please consider making a donation which will go directly to those workers (both front and back of the house) who are not currently being paid. Any amount helps whether it' $10, $25, $50 , $100 or more. Perhaps give what you would normally spend when you go. If you can't give, that's ok but in either case please share this with your friends and social media contacts and/or consider supporting any of your other favorite restaurants, brewers and businesses by doing take out or tipping a bit extra when you do. visit: http://tavolodotave.com/
The Grill and Tavolo have been the gathering places during snow storms when the city was shut down, during Dorchester Days and major sporting event celebrations, but have also been the place to go during tragedy, like the Boston Marathon Bombing, because people in our neighborhood were affected and needed a familial and comforting place to gather. I have come to know many of the staff personally and consider them friends who are always generous and fun to be with. I met most of my Dot friends over the years because of the Grill and Tavolo and they made a special impact on me when I lost a friend and Tavolo offered to host a memorial celebration for 100 people on a day it was closed for nothing. That is how you treat people well.
So because they have given so much to us and Dorchester, it's time to support them in their time of need and lost wages. There are so many great places in Dorchester, so we need to help keep them going. We don't know how long this will go on, so while we can't solve everything, we can make a bit of a difference. I hope you will join me in this cause if you can.
My sincerest thanks!!!
These are just some of the great (and crazy) people we can hopefully give a little back to.
Some of the amazing delights that tempt our palettes
