I'm setting up this fundraiser for Jason Gaudreault, the loving partner of Tatjana Martin, who was violently murdered on April 13, 2024. The person being tried for her murder is her ex-husband. Tatjana was the devoted mother of two children, both of whom continue to live with the loss of their mother every day. Jason has guardianship of the children, and together they have been navigating an unimaginable path forward. As a family friend, I feel compelled to help them in the ways that I can, and setting up this fundraiser is one of them.
The past two years since Tatjana’s murder have been difficult in ways that only those affected by violent crime can truly understand. Grief, trauma, uncertainty, and the emotional weight of the justice process have touched every aspect of their lives.
Despite everything, Jason has worked tirelessly to rebuild stability for the children and create a future for their family. He recently opened a new powder coating business in Vernon and has been putting in long hours to grow it into a high quality, successful and sustainable shop.
Now, after two long years of waiting, the trial is finally set to begin on May 25 at the Kamloops Courthouse. Each family member is expected to testify, and the emotional toll of reliving these events is immense. The outcome of the trial weighs heavily on everyone who loved Tatjana.
It is difficult to fully describe what happens to a family after a violent loss like this. The effects extend far beyond a single moment in time. Trauma ripples through every part of daily life — emotionally, mentally, socially, and financially. Families often find themselves trying to grieve while also navigating court proceedings, supporting children through profound loss, maintaining employment/business needs, and simply finding the strength to keep moving forward.
This fundraiser is intended to help ease some of that burden during the trial and the months ahead. Funds raised will go toward travel expenses, lost wages, emotional support, and helping Jason continue to provide stability and care for the children during this incredibly difficult time.
Any contribution, no matter the size, is deeply appreciated. If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser and keeping Jason, the children, and everyone who loved Tatjana in your thoughts means more than words can express.
Thank you for your compassion, support, and kindness.
