Support for Sweet Stella Simon
Donation protected
Meet our newest family member, Stella Eileen, born January 4th, 2019. Unfortunately, our sweet baby niece struggled to take her first breath after an emergency cesarian. Resuscitation took some time (potentially due to a genetic issue with a narrow trachea) and she is now, God Willing, trying to recover from this assault to her little body. Every organ in her body took a hit. This won't be easy.
Less than 2 days after Stella was born, Sparrow Hospital knew we were in need of a Pediatric ENT specialist. Stella was airlifted to the NICU at U of M by way of helicopter. In wanting to be with her daughter, Bethany asked to be immediately discharged even with the physical trauma of recovering from a c-section. Beth and Dave made the drive to Ann Arbor. Beth, Dave, and sweet Stella will likely be here for several months. The first priority is getting Stella stabilized enough to handle an MRI. This MRI will help us determine the full extent of the damage and help us understand what Stella's needs are. There's a wide range of possible outcomes for Stella and Beth and Dave are living hour by hour and Stella's keeping even the doctors on their toes.
Anyway, Beth and Dave are the best. They help all of us when we are in need and we want to return the favor. We want them to be able to put all their attention towards the care of their child. We don't know what the immediate future holds or even the long term, but we want them to be able to get coffees, gas, pay phone bills, cover some medical costs associated with her care, whatever else they may need. This is an opportunity to show them love and how much they mean to us when it feels like there is so little we can do.
Our family is so grateful for the supportive calls, texts, gifts, and cards we have already received. Thank you! This baby's care truly requires a village and we are glad you are apart of it.
Please share widely and know that all donations are helpful and will be going directly to Beth and Dave. This is of course only one way to help... we continue to enjoy your meals, prayers, and gifts.
In Gratitude,
The Aunts and Uncles
