With heavy hearts, we share the sudden and heartbreaking loss of Stephen Joseph Coffey III. Stephen was a beloved son, brother, husband to Kimberly, and most importantly, a devoted father to Stephen Joseph IV (age 14) and John Elvis (age 11).
On December 17th, Stephen underwent emergency abdominal surgery. While in the hospital, he went into septic shock. He fought bravely for 13 days but was unable to recover.
Currently living in Murrell's Inlet, SC, Stephen’s journey took him from Long Island to Notre Dame, through Rutgers Law, and eventually to Atlanta to pursue his musical ambitions. As the singer and songwriter of The Rockin’ Pontoons, he lived out his dreams (stevecoffeyrocks.com).
Stephen was a true character. Anyone who met him remembers his loud, infectious laugh. He was a man of deep faith, hysterically funny, and wildly unique. Whether cheering on Notre Dame football or standing proudly on the sidelines of his boys’ soccer games, Stephen’s passion was unmistakable.
We are starting this fund to help ease the financial burden of this devastating transition. Our goal is to support Kimberly and the boys’ immediate needs as they adjust to life without Stephen. In addition, we hope to contribute to a more secure future for the boys, including funds for their education and other long‑term needs.
Every contribution, no matter the size, will help provide stability and support to this grieving family during an incredibly difficult time.
Please keep Kimberly, Stephen, and Johnny in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate this heartbreaking loss.
Thank you for your love, generosity, and prayers. Your support means more than words can express.
