We are a small group of LGBTQ+ refugees from East Africa who fled our home countries because of persecution for our sexual orientation. Sean and Ashimak met while seeking safety, first in Kenya and later in South Sudan, where life in the refugee camp has been extremely hard.
Here, discrimination, lack of food, unsafe water, poor shelter, and limited medical care make daily survival a struggle. Together with 11 other queer refugees, we have formed a family protecting each other, sharing what little we have, and supporting one another through these challenges.
This page is for raising awareness, sharing our stories, and seeking support to provide food, shelter, medicine, and safety for our group. Your solidarity can help us survive and build a life of dignity and hope. ️

About Layla:
I am Layla Silbernberg, a trans woman from the Netherlands. I organize locally and help out within my community as I can. A few months ago Sean and Ashimak approached with an earnest plea for help, as well as a concrete plan of action. Over time I sought out other organizations that could help but found nothing, so I decided to see what I could do myself. They have provided the material you see here, and I trust them. The money will initially go to my personal bank account before I wire it over to Sean and Ashimak over Sendwave.
