Hello,

My name is Katie Schiferl and I’m the sister of Peter Majerus, whose family was impacted by the Christmas Day fire at their apartment complex. It is unlivable eventhough the fire did not directly start at their apartment. Thank god they’re able to stay with family right now until they figure out next steps. They have 3 children aging 16, 11, and 4.5 months.

It is unknown what kind of loss to their home and belongings as they haven’t been able to enter since. While they are incredibly grateful that everyone is safe, they are now facing the overwhelming task of replacing everyday essentials.

They do have renter’s insurance, but the claims process takes time and does not cover all immediate or long-term expenses. There are gaps, deductibles, and urgent needs that they must handle before insurance funds are fully available.

They are seeking support to help with temporary living costs, replacing essential items, and covering expenses that are not fully reimbursed. Any contribution — or simply sharing this page — truly means more than we can express.
