About one month ago, I was visited by the son of a gentleman that I’ve hired on numerous occasions as my landscaper. Pablo is a family man and father of two boys, who would often come along and help their dad. He is a very kind man, always doing a little more than he should, making sure our property passed his high standards. I always enjoyed seeing his boys work alongside their dad, and he always calls me, “Mr. Gregg.”

Recently, Pablo’s son came to me with heartbreaking news: his dad had been picked up by ICE here in Longview. Pablo was sent to El Paso for the first week and then deported to Mexico a week later, where he is being held today. I embraced his son upon hearing this news and asked that he please tell his dad we are saying prayers for his safe return. His son said his mom is doing as well as one could be given these circumstances. He spoke with his dad about two weeks ago and mentioned us. About ten days ago, I received a call from Pablo. He wanted to tell me he is okay and wanted to see how WE are doing. Seriously. This is who Pablo is. He calls me from Mexico, from a detention facility, to see how I am doing.

Pablo’s absence has left his wife and two sons facing significant hardship, especially as we head into the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. The funds collected through this request will help Pablo's family with living expenses and support as they navigate this difficult time.
