We are parents from a Minneapolis Spanish immersion daycare uniting to support the teachers, staff, and families in our community during a time of uncertainty caused by current immigration policies. What began as an effort to support our daycare staff has grown to include 35 households—and counting—through the families and loved ones they’ve connected us to.
Fear has rapidly escalated, and the January surge of federal agents has pushed many teachers, staff, and their families into isolation—too afraid to commute to work or even leave their homes.
Our priority is to support the most vulnerable members of our community through direct mutual aid, directing resources where they are needed most and guided by the voices of our neighbors:
- Groceries and food assistance: delivered in a secure and confidential manner. Unlike a food bank, we provide fresh groceries selected by families themselves, offering greater nutrition and the dignity and comfort of cooking foods they love.
- Rent and housing support: immediate financial assistance to prevent displacement and keep families housed during this critical time.
Our community is under attack. The people who love, teach, and care for our children are being targeted because of their race, language, and identity. These educators pour their hearts into our kids and our community —and all they want is to safely return to the work they love.
“I want to tell you that I love working with children; I love what I do. For me, it's more than just a job; I feel blessed to be in the world of early childhood education, and I will always be there if God allows me.”
“Know that I miss them, I miss seeing them, their smiles, their voices, their charisma, every little thing they do. I miss them.”
"I truly love my job, I do it with love, learning and walking with them is a joy. I hope this ends soon so I can return to teaching."
If you’ve been wondering how to make a direct, meaningful impact in Minneapolis, this is it. Any amount helps. Please give if you can—and share this fundraiser with your networks to help us reach more families in need.
Thank you for standing with our community.
Note: some people are finding their GoFundMe accounts defaulting to monthly donations unintentionally. Please keep an eye out for this while you check out!
