My name is Nick, and I’m reaching out to my community during one of the most difficult times of my life. I’ve recently developed a rapid onset neurological disorder that is paralyzing my extremities and making it impossible for me to work. I’m losing motor function in my hands and legs, and while doctors are still working to determine the exact cause, my daily life has changed dramatically.

Normally, I would try to get through something like this on my own, but it’s no longer just me. My girlfriend and I are expecting a baby boy in June, and I’m deeply worried about how this illness will affect my ability to provide for my growing family. The uncertainty of my diagnosis and the loss of my independence have been overwhelming, but my biggest concern is making sure my son has the best possible start in life.
