Hello, this is Kevin and Liz Vasconcellos. We are reaching out and asking for your support for our son, Scott, and his wife Katie who just gave birth to our newest grandson, Peter Vasconcellos. He is child number 5 in their beautiful family.
Sadly, Peter is in critical condition. He was born with a heart defect, which is a transposition of the two main arteries meaning they are crossed and connected to the wrong side of his heart.
He was immediately airlifted after his birth to Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock Arkansas where he received a balloon catheter to enlarge an opening in his heart to help increase blood flow. The Pediatric Cardiology Department there will be performing open heart surgery to correct this serious condition, however it can't be done until he gains some weight. He will be kept on life support until he's ready for surgery. Thankfully at this time he is stable and strong. While this surgery is complex and daunting, we trust that God will successfully see our beautiful grandson through to perfect health.
Doctors estimate Peter will need to stay in the hospital for at least 30 days. Your financial help will allow Scott and Katie to travel 3 hours each way to aid their son at the children’s hospital. We are seeking to raise $15,000 to cover the costs associated with making trips to Little Rock, lodging, gas, food, child care and loss of income during this time.
There is a need to deliver breast milk, provide loving skin-to-skin contact, and the desire to be present with him as much as possible. Your support will enable Scott & Katie to be there for Peter during this critical time, ensuring he receives the best possible care and comfort. By helping them cover these costs, you will allow them to maximize their time spent with him in the hospital.
Please note that your donation is not for medical treatment, as their insurance will cover those costs. Your donation is to help Scott and Katie be near their newborn son without the burden of worrying how to pay for it.
Thank you to all who are praying with us for his healing, it means the world to us. In God’s Grace and Mercy we pray for Peter’s journey to a healthy heart and a full and happy life.
May God bless you and keep your loved ones close to His Sacred Heart. Sincerely, Kevin and Liz Vasconcellos.
