Support for Nesting and Bringing in New Life

Once upon a time there were two dreamers those paths brought them together deep inside a magical forest. They shared tea under the bows of the moss covered ancient tree beings, watched over by sprites and elves. Both had been journeying for a very long time, both seeking truth and beauty, both functioning on the periphery of normal society, both unsure how to join in without compromising there love of a simple, wilder existence. There connection took them on the road from Canada to Mexico, hanging ceramic bells, building an earth temple, tending gardens, expanding their horizons as two.




These simple times of travel and exploration have evolved into a life filled with creativity, community and finally a place for them both to rest and put down roots.  A commitment to each other, their craft, and a place to hold them and there burgeoning vision.





That place is Nevada city,  deep in the mountains and trees of the California Sierras.  The two beloveds are Nathanael Wheaton and Samantha Veitch and they will be soon joined by another, due to arrive on the 22nd of June. A long held dream; a vision of family, of settling down, of up-leveling there creative and social offerings. All this is within reach......but they need your help.......





WHY WE HAVE CREATED THIS CAMPAIGN


Thank you for exploring our campaign, just having your interest is a huge blessing and boost and we hope you will see value in contributing to a more ease-full transition into first time parenthood and our continuing efforts to bring our gifts and service into the world. Below is a breakdown of why we have decided to start this campaign.




1. IMMIGRATION

The past two years we have been working through an extremely challenging immigration process to keep both of us able to be in the same country and settle in one place, a desire we both shared but had little experience with doing. The cost of this emotionally and financially has been huge and it has taken all of our resourcefulness to keep pushing forward with this process, even when the road seemed to be blocked, we simply had to keep going. The last, and hopefully final, saga saw Samantha stranded in the UK, at 33 weeks pregnant and seemingly unable to return to the states anytime soon. We managed to get her back just in time before the cut off date for flying for pregnancy by applying for emergency transport which cost us $600. Altogether we have invested around $5000, half of which we have had to borrow.





2. BIRTHING NEW LIFE

Deciding to have our baby in the States was an easy choice but still one which isn't without it's downsides. Unlike the UK, free medical help for immigrants is not available. In fact, benefits of any kind are off limits when you apply for residency. We have received kind help with midwife costs but we are still without further medical cover. With the responsibilities of parenthood right around the corner, we know the sensible thing is to be prepared for unseen circumstances. At the moment, even any basic care would see us borrowing money to cover the bill.

We also have the same costs as every new parent. Baby items, birthing classes, birthing supplies, postpartum care, general child proofing and upgrading of our nest, as well as ongoing costs which I'm sure all you parents will understand even better then us at this point!






3. BUSINESS AND PURPOSE

Nathanael has taken on many new enterprises in a the last year including the restoration of antique books,  As a talented ceramicist and artist he is also keen to get back into the studio and create a new body of work. Having time and spaciousness to be in a creative place is necessary for this to unfold as well as dedicated time to marketing efforts. Right now this is something that could only happen once we have maternity and postpartum needs met. Funding with this campaign would allow him creative freedom to dive back into his art which is really where his true skill and passion lie.

Nathanaels Ceramics 

As for Samantha, her focus has been providing inspiration, information and skills to those wanting to transition to a more sustainable lifestyle and diet. Something that is a deep calling and passion. She is creating a number of offerings including a full course on making plant based dairy products. Again, time and space is needed for this is unfold as well as some basic equipment, to create something that can be bringing in income over the long haul. She has started offering 1:1 coaching and has enrolled in business training to facilitate transition into this new, exciting line of work. Still in startup, funding through this campaign would enable her work to continue but at a slightly less frenetic rate! Ongoing costs include marketing, webdesign and hosting, software, training and other business costs.

Asking for help is always a challenge but when there is a vulnerable new human involved we know it is the right thing to do. We are both keen to begin our parenthood adventure from a stable, secure place, which means paying off our immigration debts and having the funds to prepare for the arrival of our baby so Samantha can take on full time motherhood without undue strain and stress.
