Samuel and Nelda Getz shared a remarkable 47 years together, having met on Thanksgiving in 1978. Before Sam retired he worked as an Executive Chef at some of the most prestigious restaurants on the Peninsula. Their bond was built on a deep love for cooking and adventure—camping and hiking in Big Sur, searching for jade and minerals, and making memories in Maui with family. They truly were soulmates, always side by side, supporting each other through every chapter of life.

Sam had medical issues that started in 2014. He spent his last years of his life in and out of the hospital. Nelda became his fulltime caregiver.

Samuel’s sudden passing has left Nelda facing not only heartbreak, but also the overwhelming task of managing bills and working on paperwork on her own including all of Sams unpaid medical bills which have used up most of their savings With bills piling up, she’s doing her best to keep going while sorting out the details of her new reality. Nelda is surrounded by friends and family who want to help, but she’s always been too humble and embarrassed to ask for support herself. Thats why we are helping her do this.

This fundraiser is a way for those who care about Nelda to come together and help her through this difficult time.
