Last week, Madie (27) and Gavin (22) Carter received a call that no child should ever receive about one of their parents. Their father, Nathan Carter (52), passed away suddenly and tragically. As we all struggle with medical and mental health events throughout various seasons of our lives, Nathan's suffering with depression has now ended. With this news, Madie and Gavin's world has been forever changed. As a result, the devastating unforeseen death of their loving father is understandably causing a significant psychological and financial burden on their lives.
Thus, instead of waiting for these young sweet individuals to ask for help, as a friend of the family, I am putting this together in efforts to assist in meeting some of their present (and hopefully future) financial needs. Madie is a single mother working in the hospitality industry, while Gavin is attending college and working as a handyman. Unfortunately, their jobs do not have a paid leave benefit. Yet, these siblings need to take time off work to grieve, handle the many tasks after a loved one passes away, and travel to memorial services in Nathan's honor, being held in two different states; all while rent and other bills pile up actively. For his children, Nathan handled phone and car loan/insurance payments, which will also now be an additional financial burden. I would like to additionally have you all consider future expenditures that these siblings will have, which Nathan would have undoubtedly contributed towards to help support and care for the children he loved so dearly, such as schooling, weddings, other significant life events/purchases etc.
In deaths such as this, loved ones tend to be left in a wake of confusion, feeling helpless and having more questions than answers. If we can assist in alleviating even just one of the many stressors they are currently facing (financial) it would be welcomed and appreciated. Most people are uncomfortable talking about mental health, or death and often wonder what they should say/do. Here, I'm presenting you with an opportunity to actually make a difference in the aftermath of such a tragedy of this loss of life. Please give!
