On December 22, a devastating fire broke out at my grandfather’s apartment in Novato, California. My grandfather and my two uncles were renting a room in this apartment. In a matter of moments, my grandfather and two uncles lost their home and everything they owned.
My name is Kathryn, and I am his granddaughter. My grandfather is retired and has significant hearing and vision loss. One of my uncles is also disabled, and the other is the only one in the household who is able to work. At the time of the fire, he was at work, and we are incredibly grateful that my disabled uncle and grandfather were able to escape safely. Their lives are what matter most, and we are thankful they survived.
Unfortunately, the fire destroyed all of their belongings clothing, furniture, medications, personal items, and memories that can never be replaced. Right now, they are staying in a hotel with nowhere else to go, and the costs are quickly adding up.
We are asking for help to cover hotel stays and essential needs such as clothing, food, toiletries, medications, and basic daily necessities as they try to figure out their next steps. Any donation, no matter how small, will help ease the burden during this incredibly difficult time.
If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser would mean just as much. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness, support, and prayers during this time. It truly means everything to our family.
