Hi everyone, my name is Tamara. Yesterday, our family experienced a heartbreaking crisis.

A fire broke out at my dad’s home, a house I grew up in, and it was partially destroyed. My dad and brother were forced to leave with nothing but the clothes on their backs. My brother didn’t even have socks on when he had to run out the door.

As if that wasn’t enough, shortly after the fire, my dad suffered a heart attack and is currently in the hospital. We are incredibly grateful he’s alive, but he now faces a long recovery while also dealing with the loss of his home.

They are currently displaced and will only have a place to stay until Sunday. They’ve received some meal vouchers for now, but they’ll need to find a rental as soon as possible. Ideally a two-bedroom, two-bathroom home in the Ellison area. My dad cares for my elderly grandmother, who still lives in Ellison, so it’s important that he stays close to her.

I’m in Vancouver doing my best to support them from here, but my youngest is currently sick, and I’m struggling to get down there as quickly as I’d like.

We’re humbly asking for help to get them back on their feet, whether that’s through donations for:

• Basic necessities (clothing, toiletries, etc.)

• A rental deposit and first month’s rent

• Medical-related expenses

• Dog food, cat food and supplies for their pets

• Anything else to ease this incredibly heavy burden
