Support for My Dad Richard Liu's Funeral

Dear friends, family, and kind hearted supporters.

I’m reaching out during one of the hardest moments of our lives.

My Dad, who was only 62, unexpectedly passed away last week, leaving our family heartbroken and in shock.

It all happened so suddenly. One minute, my parents were enjoying brunch, talking about plans for our next family trip, and the next, my dad was gone.

Last Monday night, my dad was playing Chinese checkers, as he often did, and my mum was preparing for bed. Around 12:30am, my mum woke up to use the bathroom and noticed my dad’s office light was still on. Concerned, she knocked on his door, asking if he was coming to bed soon. When she didn’t get a response, she walked over to him, shook his shoulder gently, and told him to go to bed. When he still didn’t respond, she noticed his arms hanging limp by his side. I can’t even imagine the panic she must have felt as she called 911.

My mum’s English is quite limited. All she could do was cry and follow instructions. The paramedics arrived within 10 minutes, but after 40 minutes of resuscitation efforts, they could not revive him. He was declared deceased that night from cardiac arrest.

My dad was the foundation of our family, our provider, protector, and source of strength. His sudden loss has left a hole in our hearts, and now my mum is faced with overwhelming grief and the difficult responsibility of handling unexpected expenses.

I’m asking for your help as we navigate this challenging time. We never expected to need assistance like this, but the financial burden is heavy. The $50,000 we’re raising will cover:

$20,000 for the burial plot

$15,000 for funeral expenses

$5,000 for lawyer fees

$10,000 to support my mum as she takes some time off work to grieve and care for herself after having lost the love of her life.
